Now there are different types of faucets, so keeping this in mind in this post on tips to fix leaky faucet we are going to share for two handle and single handle faucet.
For Two Handle Faucet
- Shut off the Water Supply
The very first step in repairing leaking faucet starts with shutting off your water supply. For the same, all you have to do isthat turning off the valves situated beneath the sink if it is like a flat screw turns it off with a screwdriver. 2. Check For the Leak

4. Remove the Cap or Screw cover and Set Screw
In the next step, you have to remove the screw cover which generally remains a decorative dome or cap and signify the sides of hot and cold water outlets respectively. As soon as the cover got removed you are on the way to get to the set screw. Next, to this, pull out the set screw with the help of a screwdriver.
5. Take Out Lock Nut and Cartridge or Stem
Once you are done with the set screw take out the lock nut with the help of a wrench. Thenceforth, pull out the stem or cartridge, here pay attention to its arrangement as you have to place in the same way thereafter. So, if after pulling out stem you find it damaged then place a new stem thereby queuing up the notches and keeping in the place.
6. Check For O-Rings
Don’t forget to check the rubber O-rings which usually seems like black small rubber bands in order to check if they are alright or damaged. Here, if O-rings are completely alright then you may have to replace the complete stem and if O-Rings are damaged then you to replace them and forextending the life of these rings you need to grease them and at the same time have to use gloves latex gloves to protect your hands.
7. Put All Parts in Order and Check Again For Leak
Once you are done with all the tips mentioned above just put back all the parts in order as they were before disassembling. After that, turn on the valves to check that whether the leak persists or not.

- Remove the Cover or Handle
By using a wrench pull off the screw and remove the handle and take out the cap or spout even.
2. Take Out other Elements
Next to this step, remove all other elements like cam, ball lever, and washer and check them whether they are alright or not. If are damaged then replace them with the new ones.
3. Look For O-rings/ Seats or Springs
After following the second step the next step in which you have to put your hands is that you have to look for O-rings/ Seats or springs and check them whether they are alright or not. If are damaged then replace them with the new ones.

4. Place All Parts in Order and Check For Leak Again
Once you are done with all the tips mentioned above just put back all the parts in order as they were before disassembling and reinstate the screw to the handle after that ,check for the leak if it is gone or still there.
If the handle of your faucet stuck then steep a towel in vinegar and drape it around it to aid released mineral deposits. After an hour or two, softly twist it with the help of pliers and towels.
