1. Prepare Your Surface

The very first step in the process of laying a new tile floor includes preparing your surface or floor. In this process, all you have to do is to clean and dry your floor thereby removing existing residual left after removing the previous flooring. 2. Make your Datum Line

After preparing the floor, the next step includes making your datum line. Datum line is a reference line which is created to lay the tiles on the floor in a symmetrical and straight manner. For the same to make you will need a pencil, tape and a spirit level. With the help of the datum line, you will be able to place the tile on the side of the line and after that on the edges of the area to be tiled.

3. Lay Your Tiles Dry For aLook Test

Once you are done with the making your datum line, the next step in floor tile installation includes dry lying of your tiles. By dry lay of your tiles, you will get an idea of their completed look. So to achieve the same dry lay your tiles on the surface, considering datum line as a reference. At this point, check if the tiles are equidistant from each side of the wall. If the tiles are not then you need to amend your datum line. However, make sure that the tiles are either straight or tilting towards the intended direction. 4. Make Adhesive for Tiles

The next step in how to tile a floor segment is the making of adhesive for tiles. In this step, you have to take an empty bucket and have to add water and powdered adhesive mix. You have to mix both in such a quantity that neither mixture becomes too thick or too runny. All you have to keep in mind that you have to make a mix same as of the consistency of toothpaste.

Along with that, the point which you have to keep in mind is that you have to make an amount of mixture which gets finished in 15-20 minutes. It is because it gets set very soon. Also, don’t forget to carry a bucket of fresh water and sponge to clean the tools and also to clear excess adhesive before its settlement. 5. Start to Lay Tiles

As soon as you have prepared the adhesive the next step includes the laying of floor tiles with the help of adhesive you have just made. All you have to do is to smear the adhesive amid the nearby wall and datum line with the help of trowel, and after that, by using the same trowel’s notched side, you have to spread out the adhesive so that the surface area of adhesive gets increased where you have to fix your tile.  Past this, apply the same adhesive to the bottom side of the tile which is running along the datum line and then place the first tile and press it to fix it gently.

6. Put the tile spacers

Once you are done with lying of tiles in a row,put in tile spacers between each of them. 7. Cut your tiles to size

Before cutting tiles in size, equip yourself with safety types of equipment like safety goggles and a dust mask to avoid any injury as it is a dusty task which involves dust and fragments of tiles too.
